Finishing Touches

Here at MNL we offer all the finishing touches you could ever need to bring your prototype to life.

Walls Solero Shots

Shrink-wrap:coloured graphics in the form of shrink-wrap were applied to the outside of the tinted PU casting

Walls Solero Shots

The "icing on the cake"for this project was the shrink wrap exterior. MNL added the coloured graphics to the outside of the tinted PU casting.

The overall project produced 6 sets of ice-crean product dispensors for the Walls Solero branded product.

The project used a combination of SLA and traditional model making skills to produce the chosen design. High gloss paint spraying was applied to all nescessary surfaces. Silicon tooling produced the subsequent PU castings.

Colour Rub-Downs:coloured graphics were applied to the inside of the clear PU casting

Pimms Winter Warmer

To complete the look for this bar font for Pimms' re-branded dispenser, MNL added coloured graphics to the inside of the clear PU casting that was the graphics cover.

The overall project produced 6 sets of bar top dispensors for the lesser known Pimms product, Pimm's no.3 cup.

The project followed the usual process route; Stl files were emailed to us by the customer, from which MNL produced SLA masters of each of the components. High quality surface finishing and high gloss paint spraying were applied to all nescessary surfaces to give the lustrous finish that was desired. Silicon tooling produced the vehicle to enable subsequent PU castings to be produced.

Stronbow Extra Cold

Graphic Rub-downs: Graphics used here enhanced not only the buttons, but also the display screen.

HeartCheck Medical Device

This example is just one of a selection of six concept models that were produced in only a few days.

This design was a hybrid of SLA/SLS and traditional block model work.

The Finishing Touches team transformed the bare block models into the perfect representation of the customers desired intent. Many variations of block models were produced in only a few days.

Stronbow Extra Cold

Graphics & Plating: illuminated masking and high quality chrome plating.

Strongbow Extra Cold

The prototypes illuminated here had to be as close to the production samples as possible.

The lower half of the body had to be metal to allow the cooling to take place and produce the condensing effect (water droplets). Not only did it have to be made from metal but it also had to be polished and have a high chrome plated finish. Just out of shot is the engraving which was achieved using a specialist rub-down.

The top half of the body was to house some lighting which was going to illuminate the "strongbow" logo and text. The black part of the body had to act as a mask to prevent unrequired light escaping.

Once again customers designs were turned into master models using both the SLA and SLS process. All masters were finished by MNL's highly skilled craftsmen. Silicon tools were produced from the completed masters and in the case of the metal parts investment casting waxes were produced from the rubber tools. The waxes were used in a foundry to produce metal castings in brass.

The Finishing Touches team transformed the bare metal castings and the plain white PU castings into the perfect representation of the customers desired intent. Many sets of working protoypes were produced in only a few weeks.

Etching Masks: Etch effect on clear PU Casting

PUR Water Filter Jug

This selection of PU castings were enhanced with an etching of the company logo.

The etching could have been achieved via two methods. MNL could have either used a special effect rub-down or in this instance they chose to produce a mask and sandblast the required area.

The project followed the usual process route; SLA masters and finishing; The high quality surface finishing and high gloss paint spraying was of paramount importance as this was going to influence the optical qualities of the jug. Silicon tooling produced the subsequent PU castings. Some castings were produced with a tinted dye to give the blue colouring.
